I’m totally pumped！

pump 當動詞用是指「打氣」。

當一個人摩拳擦掌、迫不及待要去做一件事，看起來一定像是打了氣（形容詞，pumped）似的精力充沛，就可以說 sb. is pumped (up) for...。

A: Are you pumped up for the big game tomorrow?

你已經迫不及待要看明天的大賽嗎？

B: Yeah. I’m totally pumped!

有啊。我超興奮的！

a bundle of energy

能表示「精氣神」的英文還有 energy 這個字，當我們說一個人「個性積極，渾身是勁」就可以用 a bundle of energy 來形容。除了 a bundle of energy 以外， a bundle of… 還有幾種固定的用法：a bundle of nerves（突然變得很緊張的人）、a bundle of joy（剛出生的嬰兒）。

A: Your grandmother is so active for her age.

以年齡來看，你的奶奶相當活躍。

breathe (new) life into…

life 在這裡代表「生命力」，breathe 是「吹氣」，這句話當中的吹氣的人、事、物可是吐氣如蘭，被吹到的人都如沐春風般振作起來，也就是「為⋯⋯注入新鮮感、活力」。

A: The new CEO say she’s going to breathe new life into the organization.

新上任的執行長說他要為組織注入新活力。

最好是啦。上一任執行長也是這樣說。

go gangbusters

gangbusters 口語上是指「卓越的狀態」，此處當形容詞用，表示有亮眼的成績，「變得極為成功」。gangbusters 也可當名詞，例如：We’re not looking for gangbusters, but you need to pass all the subjects this year. （我們不要求名列前茅，但是你今年必須所有科目都及格。）

A: The Lakers haven’t been doing too well lately.

湖人籃球隊最近表現得不太好。

B: Yeah, but I’m sure they’ll go gangbusters later in the season.

沒錯，但是我很肯定他們後面球季還是會有出色的表現。

on top of one’s game

on top of... 是指「處於⋯⋯的頂端」，on top of one’s game 是形容「某人處於最佳狀態」，因此當你覺得自己狀況超好，不管做什麼都特別來勁時，就可以大聲說 I’m on top of my game.

A: Are you ready for the tennis match today？

你今天的網球比賽準備好了沒？

B: Yeah. I’m on top of my game.

有，我現在處於最佳狀態。

go all out

這句話是用來形容為了達成目標而「竭盡全力」，也可指「不惜一切代價」都要把事情辦好。

A: Wow, that was a great performance!

哇，那場表演好精彩！

B: Yeah, the cast really went all out.

是呀，參與的卡司真的是使出渾身解數。

bring one’s A game

「Ａ等」是成績單上的最高評比，要拿到Ａ，當然就得努力以求表現優異。

A: Did you see the Yankees play last night？

你有看到洋基隊昨晚的比賽嗎？

B: Yeah. They really brought their A game！

有啊。他們真的卯足了勁。

run out of steam

蒸汽火車靠 steam（蒸汽）推動，因此 steam 在口語用法中有「精力、力氣」的意思，run out of steam 也就是體力、精力都用完了，表示「精疲力盡，失去動力」。

A: I always start to run out of steam in the afternoon.

我通常在下午開始精疲力盡。

B: Me too. That’s what coffee is for!

我也是。快來杯咖啡吧！
